Rules and scoring

How you build your prediction and how points add up, match by match. Clear, with examples.

How do points add up?

Every match is scored on its own, and it's not all-or-nothing: you score for each partial hit. In a normal match you can score up to 10 points, like this:

+5
Winner or draw
+2
Home goals
+2
Away goals
+1
Goal difference

=10points max per match

The goal difference counts regardless of direction. Only the size of the difference matters, not who wins: if the match ends 2-1 and you predicted 1-2, you still get the goal-difference point (both are a "difference of 1"), even if you got the winner wrong.

An example. The match ends like this, and these would be your predictions and their points:

Real Madrid2 - 1Barcelona
2-110 ptsExact score: winner + both teams' goals + difference.
1-06 ptsWinner + difference (not the exact goals).
3-05 ptsOnly the winner.
0-13 ptsOne team's goals (the away side) + the difference, but not the winner.
1-21 ptOnly the difference: you got the winner wrong, but "by 1" is right.

Knockouts: the qualifier scores

In knockout matches you score just like a normal match, and you also earn 2 points for getting the qualifier right (who advances to the next round).

  • Single match: you predict the score (scored normally) and the winner is the one who qualifies. If you predict a draw, you choose who advances.
  • Two-legged tie: the first leg is scored like a normal match. The second leg is the one that scores the qualifier: when you fill in the second leg you see the first-leg score as a helper, and if your score leaves the aggregate level, you choose who advances by hand.

Which score counts? The result at the end of the match is scored —including extra time, up to minute 120— but before penalties. Example: if a tie ends 1-1 and is decided on penalties, the score that counts is 1-1; the qualifier is scored separately with its bonus.

When you predict and how it looks live

  • Prediction window: you can enter and edit your score until the match kicks off. Once it starts, your prediction is locked.
  • Live: while it's being played, your points are recalculated with the running score, so you see how your pool is going in real time.
  • Final result: when the match ends, the points are final and show up in the ranking.
